Based in Scotland, United Kingdom, the lab’s work spans satellite remote sensing, radar interferometry, and planetary surface science — measuring how ice, water, and land systems change over time, on Earth and beyond.

  • MITI FIELD LABORATORIES

    Miti Field Laboratories is an independent research programme focused on Earth observation, remote sensing, and planetary science — spanning satellite radar interferometry, altimetry, GNSS integrity, and comparative planetary surface studies. This site serves as a home for that work: published research, preprints, datasets, and notes from ongoing projects.

    The name draws on miti (मिति), a Sanskrit word for measurement — a fitting starting point for research grounded in the precise observation of a changing Earth, from ice shelves to ocean plumes to planetary ice.

Open Data & Infrastructure

This research is built on freely available satellite data and open scientific computing infrastructure. Data sources span multiple space agency missions — including ESA’s Copernicus programme (Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2) and NASA’s ICESat-2 and SWOT missions — spanning SAR, optical, and altimetric observations, with additional missions incorporated as research needs evolve. Processing relies on cloud-based Python environments and open-source geospatial libraries. Datasets, processing code, and derived products are archived via Zenodo and GitHub under open licenses.


Open Science Commitment

Miti Field Laboratories operates independently, without institutional or grant funding, using open-access satellite data and free research infrastructure. Publications are pursued through fee-waiver-eligible, open-access venues wherever possible, in the interest of transparent and accessible science.

Notes are shorter, working-facing posts — method updates, dataset releases, and research reflections. Publications are formal peer-reviewed research outputs (journal articles and preprints) with full citation details and DOI links where available.

Where possible, yes. Datasets and code associated with published work are made available via Zenodo or GitHub under open licenses, linked from the relevant publication page.
